Galimusic
organises the VII International Masterclass Piano, by Prof. Matthijs Verschoor
(Amsterdam). The Masterclass will be at "Centro de Enseñanza
Musical Martín Millán", in Vilagarcía de Arousa
(Pontevedra, Spain), from 16 to 23 August, 2008, according with the following
program:
Matthijs
Verschoor studied in Amsterdam (MMus Sweelinck Conservatoire), London and
Rome with Bart Berman, John Bingham and Willem Brons. He
has given recitals throughout Europe and has performed with a number of
orchestras. He has also broadcasted many works from Bach to Messiaen, but
also neglected composers like Korngold. His recording
career for RCA, Etcetera and Erasmus started early, with works by Bach,
Scarlatti, Handel, Beethoven, Chopin, Korngold (the complete sonatas), Rachmaninoff
and Scriabin. His playing is universaly acclaimed
by the press as "one of the chosen" (Luister) and a "superb
pianist" (Gramophone). In 1987 Matthijs Verschoor
was appointed professor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since then,
he worked with students from England, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Israel,
Austria, US, Canada, Japan, Korea and Holland. He has recently given masterclasses
at Trinity College of Music and Drama and the Hochschule für Musik
Berlin.
